Rosehip is at the core of our facial range due to its potent rejuvenative and anti-ageing properties. These benefits are due to a combination of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids, as well as high levels of vitamins A, C and E. Vitamin A in particular in indicated for ageing skin due its ability to convert to the highly prized retinol. Rosehip helps promote a richly moisturised complexion with increased skin elasticity and even skin tone.

Lavender is a key ingredient in the body range due to its long history of use as a relaxant, both mind and muscle. It was also chosen for its ability to promote new cell growth, encourage healing of burns and wounds, and soothe eczema and psoriasis.

Jojoba is essential to our lip products because of its ability to provide long-lasting moisture. Jojoba is also excellent for soothing inflamed skin due to a combination of vitamins A, D and E, which provide both anti-inflammatory and healing benefits.

Calendula is a key ingredient in the baby products due to its potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant benefits. This assists in reducing skin inflammation, soothing irritations and promoting wound healing.


Additional ingredients used in the Clémence Organics range:

Bearberry extract is obtained from the bearberry plant (Arctostaphylosus uva-ursi) commonly wild-harvested throughout Asia, Europe and North America. It is used for its ability to brighten and lighten the complexion by reducing melanin production.

Beeswax is a naturally occurring wax that has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and protective benefits. It is added to skincare products to help create a barrier, holding moisture in the skin, whilst still allowing it to breathe. It is particularly suited to dry skin and skin issues involving inflammation and irritation such as eczema.

Camellia oil
Camellia oil, also known as tsubaki oil in Japan, is obtained from the seed of the camellia plant. It is rich in oleic acid and vitamins A, B, D and E as well as omega 3, 6 and 9. It is probably best known for its use amongst Geisha who would use this ancient oil to wipe away their heavy make-up and keep their skin in prime condition.

Chamomile essential oil
Chamomile essential oil is extracted from the flower of the German Chamomile plant (Chamomilla recutita or Matricaria recutita). The potent oil is naturally anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. It is excellent for encouraging wound-healing and soothing skin inflammation. It is particularly suited to soothing skin irritations including eczema and nappy rash.

Cocoa butter
Obtained from the cocoa bean (also famous for making chocolate), this vegetable fat or ‘butter’ is rich in a range of fatty acids, providing a natural emollient effect.

Coconut oil
Coconut oil is obtained from the flesh of the fruit of the coconut tree. This versatile oil is rich in fatty acids and absorbs easily into skin, providing instant hydration. It also has natural anti-microbial properties.

Evening primrose oil
Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds within the flowers of the Evening Primrose plant. Rich in omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), it offers anti-inflammatory benefits and promotes wound healing.

Hyaluronic acid
Biofermented hyaluronic acid is obtained from bacterial fermentation using corn-derived glucose. Naturally occurring in the skin, hyaluronic acid supports collagen synthesis and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Macadamia oil
The native Australian Macadamia tree provides the nuts from which macadamia oil is extracted. The oil is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, as well as some vitamin E. It is very similar to the skin’s natural sebum and so absorbs easily providing instant hydration to dry skin.

Shea Butter
Shea butter is obtained from the nut of the shea (karite) tree, commonly found throughout Western Africa. It is rich in vitamins A, D and E, and a range of fatty acids. It is extremely nourishing and hydrating, and is suitable for a range of skin conditions.

Sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is extracted from the seed of the beautiful sunflower plant. Rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, this carrier oil offers instant hydration and skin repairing benefits.
